La compagnia canadese di teatro-danza contemporanea Kidd Pivot presenta il suo nuovo lavoro, Assembly Hall, creato dalla coreografa Crystal Pite e dall’attore Jonathon Young. In scena otto performer esplorano il bisogno umano di comunità e appartenenza, tra movimento e linguaggio, umorismo e creatività.
L’assemblea annuale di un’associazione medievale si riunisce nella sala del centro comunale. Spetta all’organo direttivo salvare la cosiddetta “Quest Fest”, dato che il numero di soci è in calo, i debiti aumentano e il centro comunale è fatiscente. Se non si interviene al più presto, l’associazione rischia di chiudere. Man mano che l’assemblea procede, il confine tra realtà e rievocazione si confonde, si risvegliano forze ancestrali e diventa ben presto evidente che in gioco c’è molto di più della rievocazione di un torneo medievale.
La compagnia Kidd Pivot è nota per il suo approccio ibrido, in cui la danza incontra il teatro e il movimento incontra il linguaggio creando uno stile inconfondibile che entusiasma il pubblico in tutto il mondo, e per le tematiche che affronta nei suoi lavori, sempre attuali e di grande rilevanza per la società.
